I know Red Beard is a roo. When i got him two weeks ago i was told he is about 4-5 months old. Was also told he is Ameraucana/EE. My question is what color is he? I would like to get some pullets to go with him, to keep his coloring going in future generations. Thank you for your time and help!

He is a easter egger rooster, which means he is mixed somewhere down the line. This makes it very hard to find a matching color of hen, even then it might not breed true. My dad had a rooster of this color and was able to get several sons of the same coloration from him over his 10 year reign. My dad had a selection of easter egger hen colors to include true blue wheaten ameruacanas.

Good luck with him.

He looks similar to mine. Mine is a year and a half old and I don't know his heritage. I just call him an EE. Very cool looking roo :)

So i need to get my hands on a couple pullets of different wheaton varieties and experiment? Sounds fun. I think.

He is of mixed variety. Easter Eggers are crossbreeds, so none look exactly alike, or fit any recognized color variety. His color is closest to some sort of duckwing variety, though.

I'd just use the classic brown EE colored birds, similar to this

or some variation of. Hatch enough chicks and you'll get something pretty close, I'll bet.

Thanks. I've only had chickens since Easter. Now that we have them we are learning more every day. Ready for them to start laying. Still have a while to go i know. Thinking about adding some brahma to the mix, maybe some frizzled something also. Let them all go for a while and keep anything that looks interesting.
