Kiddos eat Sharpies all the time and they don't die. I mark my eggs with Sharpie and have yet to hatch a two headed chick.

anything's better than a pencil. My wife marked 6 eggs with a pencil and didn't tell me so I go to candle them and notice that they all have cracks in the shells. Turns out the cracks were not cracks at all but fine pencil marks that looked like cracks when candled......ops

I know it is a little hard to see but notice the red circle in the middle of the yolk.

Have you candled the eggs again? I have one that has a dark shell that I'm unsure of and am waiting till day 10 on.. A link on the incubation 101page has pictures of early embryotic death that make a ring.. Please keep us posted!

Curiosity got to me and looking at it today it's definitely a blood ring. Thanks for all your help everyone. I'll be sure to mark my eggs next time
