cochins have feathered legs, so it is not one of those. Sorry about his leg off to the side. I have one like that too. It was not like that, then I put them in with bigger chicks because i was cleaning out their brooder and he got stepped or jumped on and his leg got messed up. I am leaving him because he seems to be getting around okay, but he may be culled soon if he slows in development and lags behind the rest. It is possible he was like that before and I just didn't notice, but it seems to have really become a problem for him two days ago after mixing batches of chicks. I just didn't realize how much bigger those other chicks were until it was too late.

I figured it probly was not but then again I have heard that cochins sometimes don't grow feathers on legs till later on.

That's definitely not the cochin chick. Cochin chicks always have fuzzy on their legs, more fuzz if they are of good quality. That looks like may be spraddle leg. What kind of bedding do you have them on? You can try using a bandaid to correct the problem. Wrap one end around the normal leg and then position the bad leg so that it is "normal" and then tape it using the other end of the bandaid. This will keep the legs together so the chick can correct the problem easier.

thanks for the advice I am trying it keep you updated on how it turns out
