Yes! A hen at that age shouldn't have pointy tail feathers or that big of comb/wattles.So is the pointy tail feathers, wattle and come the main indicator that the Rhode island is definitely a rooster?
they are all roosters, if you want to keep them you could keep them all in a rooster fock! i have a rooster flock of 9 and they are all gentle giants who love the occasional suggle. I trust them more then my hen flock lolI have three chickens that appear to be ROO they are 9 weeks old. My first picture is of a welsummer, then my rhose island red (which has pointy tail feathers with some blue and blueish black neck feathers) and last my lemon blue bantam. Could anyone possibly verify they are roo at this stage? Thanks!
Huh... Usually, feed stores are really good at having very few roos in the their chick bins.Local backyard feedstore/hatchery
When we started chickens after a few years pause we bought 4 different breed of chickens. We got 7 chickens for laying purposes and ended up with 7 roosters instead!Huh... Usually, feed stores are really good at having very few roos in the their chick bins.
Really?!?! That's incredible! When we started chickens after a few years pause we bought 4 different breed of chickens. We got 7 chickens for laying purposes and ended up with 7 roosters instead!
yep! it was crazy! we loved them to much and they became our rooster fock. each and every one has a name to lol. lol the "i think i have a rooster" moments are always the scariestReally?!?! That's incredible!
I have never gotten a boy from a feed store. Although, I did think I did..![]()
