I raised chickens as a 4H project over 25 years ago....and my kids and I have recently gotten baby chicks (they are a little over a week old)! Every once in a while, after they have been running around in their box...stirring up shaving dust, it sounds like one of them might sneeze? This is the only time the "sneeze" has been heard? So can chickens sneeze??? Should I be concerned??? No other signs or concerns have been observed.

Thanks All

They can cough, wheeze, and get colds, too... and that's never a good sign. Hopefully it's just because the shavings kicked up a lot of dust, but if your chick continues to make wheezy sounds you'll want to isolate her.

Mine sneeze too... under the conditions you state... as long as they are healthy, eating drinking pooping normal and they do not have any other symptoms like runny noses, runny eyes, lethargy, etc I don't worry.

Oh... BTW... I sneeze a lot more than they do when I am around their pen...

Yes.

Your chick is most likely clearing dust from the bedding and the shedding of chick fluff out of its nostrils.
