Can Californian quail breed with coturnix quail?

I breed Goliath, jumbo, king, and regular quail. Never had issues housing them all together in all the years I've bred. I'm wanting to out Californian quail in with them. Will they breed with my other breeds of quail?

Because I'm hoping they can only breed Californian to Californian to avoid mixes.

But I'm not sure if they can or can't breed together?

I myself don’t have any experience with Californian quails but my friend had a pair of them. She kept them with a pair of bobwhites, multiple Japanese , two golden pheasants and kings (but the kings are separated within the coop but they sometimes put them out). Californian quails won’t breed with them but I still wouldn’t recommend that they go together because Californian and Bobwhite quails are both a bit more skiddish. But the answer to you’re question is... if you’re quails have parters than they won’t look for them but still I don’t think that they’d ever try to breed.

They can't breed with them because they are different species. They are completely unrelated. Japanese quails are from the Phasianidae family (which includes old world quails, pheasants, partridges and chickens), and california quails are from the Odontophoridae family (which is all the new world quails). Japanese quails are closer related to chickens than they are to californias.

As @Quaicken108 mentioned though, mixing them may not end well.

Btw, Phasianidae and Odontophoridae are in a superfamily called Phasianoidea (along with another family called Numididae, which are guineafowl). Sorry if this is an information overload. You probably just wanted a simple answer, not a taxonomy lesson
