Can chicken hawks get large chickens

Show a picture of your chicken hawk. Many species are known to take chickens although the level of threat and conditions where such birds are a threat can vary greatly. Some hawks are very easy to manage against, others not so easy.

We have a chicken hawk problem and I was wondering if chicken hawks can kill larger birds like Jersey giants.

I've noticed that Hawks will try for chickens but leave my ducks alone. I'm not exactly sure why that is other than my ducks are bigger and tend to stay closer together while my chickens spread out and don't bunch up. My dog (lab/bull mastiff mix) does a very good job at protecting my flock from chicken hawks when he's outside, he'll bark when Hawks are in the sky and I've even seen him kill one hawk who dived into the coop and didn't count on my dog busting down the run's fence to get at him. But when he's not outside the Hawks will come by and try for whichever chicken is convenient, which is why I've recently invested in adding guinea fowl to my flock to help sound the alarm when the Hawks come by.

I had a chicken hawk come out of nowhere to try swooping in for one of my hens. My rooster wasn't having that sounded the alarm and all my girls got under the bushes to safety right in time. He also stayed out and waited till the hawk left and kept crowing like to say I see you now leave.
