can chickens be given crushed clam shells

We had some clams. Can we crush the shells and give them to the chickens? The books says to feed oyster shells; are clam shells similar enough to oyster shells?

If you look at the crushed oyster shells they don't have any sharp edges. They must 'crush' them a certain way. I would crush the clam shells and put them in the garden and not give them to the chickens.
