can chickens be trained

My coup is 10 ft from my fenced in yard and 10 ft the oppisite way to the woods. Since I am worried my girls will go into the woods and never return, can I train them to walk over to the fenced in yard where they will be relatively safe? If so, how do I do this?

These Bob Baily videos are fun, once you pull one up there will be several 3 or 4 minute YouTube videos to watch. Yes, chickens are trainable!

Loved the 'clicker' training video referenced above.

When I bring veggies, rice or other table scraps to my chickens, I bring them in a black plastic bowl. They zoom to the side of the run and follow me to the door pressing on the wire. If you use something similar for treats...they will follow you--- They KNOW what's in the bowl.

Then set it in the fenced yard and voila -- chickens where you want them.
