Can chickens count to three?

Hi,

I have a feral hen who's decided to lay in an old flower pot in back of the house. So far, three eggs. I figure if there are four eggs, I can take one and leave three, no problem. But if there are three eggs, and I take one, will the hen know?

Gee, that's a new one on me. Those wild birds are awfully smart... And I don't have any golf balls!

There are four eggs now, maybe I'll just take one at a time...
