can chickens drink moonshine???

They do use peroxide to get it out ..But then have to follow up with Activated Charcoal and an IV of Vodka.. Just dont want folks thinking they can save an animal from Antifreeze poisining at home... Its a terrible ordeal...

.
No I didn't mean it like that. I still took him to the vet. And in 'my' caseI had done enough. The vet tested him and he needed nothing further. Luckily... Depends on how much they drink. It could save someone elses dog on the way to the vet though!!

I didnt mean to say you did anything wrong.. I am just afraid someone would see that and think they could do it at home...Instead of taking to vet... I was a vet for 4 years and antifreeze poisinning is horrible on the animal..

Everytime I see this thread I just keep thinking "why"?. There is no point to giving chickens alcohol. There are some benefits to the human body but probably far less to chickens considering the differences in brain chemistry and function. I don't think chickens will benefit from increased serotonin and gaba like humans. It also will only require them to drink more water which is harmful in the winter unless you live somewhere with a warm climate. Alcohol is a strong diuretic and bad to drink when there is a risk of dehydration already.

I'm going to be direct here: Alcohol is not a natural medicine for chickens for anything that I am aware of. So NO, you should not try to cure chicken diseases with alcohol. Get a book on chicken health and use the diseases & injury forum to get help from other chicken people.

Always keep a gallon of Vodka in the cupboard just in case I happen to mistake anti-freeze for soda pop.

You must have been a Boy Scout-that "Be Prepared" really stuck with you. I think I better lay in some Vodka, that antifreeze sometimes does look tempting.

Indeed I was a boy scout. Nowadays they make anti-freeze to look like cherry or lime soda so hey you never know do ya?

moonshine may not be of benefit health wise, but it sure is good for morale. the problem is the ladies lay their eggs where ever they get the spur.
