Can chickens eat a whole fish?

Hey everyone!

I was just wondering, could I bring home a fish (from ice fishing this winter) and give it to my chickens whole - just for protein? I mean, does it need to be cooked/gutted, etc?

P.S. Does it need to be a certain breed (kind) of fish?

Mine like theirs cleaned, skinned and cooked. I tried to give a whole fish and that was rejected by everyone.

Okay, so your saying yours just liked theirs cooked - but its okay to give whole raw?

It is Ok to give whole raw. They just might refuse it.
Mine continued refusal even after I made cuts through the skin.

If mine catch them they eat them.....raw. Usually right next to where I am gardening at that moment.

I figured protein is protein in a way but, I too wondered about raw fish.

Granted I really, really enjoy sushi & some sashimi! That's me though.

Well I guess we could start listing fish success stories & it'd get added to "thee list elsewhere" in here ehh?

1) cooked tilapia, cod & catfish I have given them as leftover from the meal "right after dinner."
