So, we have had a super wet summer here in GA and the tasty chanterelle mushrooms have been popping up everywhere! Does anyone know if they are safe for chickens??

Thanks Chris for your reply! Do you have a reason you wouldn't? Are they not good for chickens? I know they are a good source of protein for humans so I was thinking they may be for chickens as well...maybe I'm wrong.

We have mushrooms all over the yard in spring and our hens never touch them. but if you are asking about toxicity, I think that if a variety isn't toxic to humans it is probably safe for chickens.

I feed mine cheap button mushrooms in leftovers all the time---can't afford the good stuff, so I can't say yes for that particular species. Mine do avoid the "horse poop" mushrooms, though...........

I'm in Georgia and picking chanterelle's as fast as I can. Feed them to chickens?? Why? These mushrooms are worth about $ 25 a pound!. Sautee them with butter & olive oil, freeze them.

Well, though they are tasty the second time I ate them they did not agree with my stomach...I may have gotten a false chanterelle not sure. But either way I can't even stomach the sight of them after that :p I ended up tossing them to the chickens but they didn't pay them much attention.
