Can chickens eat grass seed? I know they do but should they?

Should chickens eat grass seed? I have several bags of unused, old grass seed, it is to old to germinate so can I feed it to them mixed in with their food?

If it is truly just seed...then it is fine to feed it to them


BUT, many bags of grass seed also have fertilizer, fungicide, and maybe weed killer, and who knows what.

Read your bags very carefully, make sure it is truly ONLY seed, and then great.
