Can chickens eat maggots?

I think they can but DD is freaking because she just took the bag of chicken feed OUTof the trash can container (feed still in bag) and there were maggots at the bottom of the trash can.I am guessing a lttle bit of chicken feed got caught under the bag.Anyway I said big deal let them eat the maggots she thinks this would be TERRIBLE and is busy trying to get rid of the maggots in a place the chickens will not find them.So can they?

My chickena LOVE maggots. Good for them!! Less for me to deal with when I need to do a garbage run.
