Can chickens eat sugar cane?

I searched this forum and google and haven't found the answer to this yet. Can chickens eat sugar cane, you know fresh cut from the field?
 
No, I don't believe they can. Sugarcane is very fibrous and the birds don't have any way to chew it even if you peeled it for them. It would take something like a goat or a cow with teeth and the ability to digest fibrous material to cope with sugarcane. Particularly ripe cane.
 
Thanks so much for the reply, I hadn't read anything about it so I assumed it was something they could not eat.
