Hi
today i realized that some peanuts i bought a while ago have gone stale and i don't like to eat them anymore. The container is still pretty much full and i would hate to just throw all of them away. I was wondering if i could feed them to my chickens. They are "roasted and salted" and are also unshelled. I looked on the VERY HELPFUL chart but it said nothing about peanuts. Please let me know!

THANKS

I would not give it to them because of the salt. The peanut which is a legume is probably fine but I would not do the salt!

what about rinsing the salt off them? crushing them in smaller pieces (rolling pin and ziploc bag) that is what i would do.

I had a bunch of raw, unsalted peanuts leftover from christmas candy making and my chooks loved them. I wouldn't give the salted kind though.

try using a coffee grinder to break them up
after rinsing the nuts off
besure and feed granite grit with the peanuts
and ofcourse they can eat shells and all
