Can chickens get colds?

I have about 30 or so birds and every time it rains, they get out in it and get soaked and then they seem to get sick. They have runny noses, do a gargling thing but the hens keep laying and eating normal as well as the roosters crowing and carrying on. Could it be something worse? Whatever the sickness is, I can't seem to get it to go away. My chickens are free-range, if that helps. I need to get this figured out because I'd like to sell some birds but no one wants birds that seem to be sick. Anyways, thanks!

No. They get respiratory diseases which cannot be cured. If you are going to keep a flock with one of these diseases, it should be a closed flock. That is, no bird or hatching egg should ever leave your property. It would probably be best to have your flocked checked to find out what you are dealing with.
