One of my 7 month old Red Stars has been the victim of some overzealous feather picking on her back near her tail. I'm taking steps to resolve the underlying problem.

In the meantime, her bald spot was looking very irritated, so this morning I moved her to the "hospital wing" - a dog crate with food, water, etc. in my finished basement. Today when I got home from work, she had eaten, etc., but the bald spot is now bright red and feels warm. Could it be infected? Any tips on treating it?

In spite of all this she also laid an extra-large egg while in the "hospital"!!

Thanks so much!!!
Jennifer

A feather picked area can be quite red without being infected, so it is hard to say. Maybe a photo would help?
