can chickens lay more than 1 egg a day?

I also had a Rhode Island Red who once laid 2 eggs in the same day. She was an amazing layer -- during her first year of laying, she laid everyday except for January 31st....And we don't even use a light in the coop.

I just came in search of the same question......I have 4 Rhode Island Reds and today I had 5 warm eggs. HMMMM
