Prey animals can see in color.
Predators generally see the world more in black and white.

Makes sense when you think about it.
For example, the zebra evolved it's stripes to confuse it's predators as they see mainly black and white. When attacked the zebras run, of course, and the black and white stripes all moving very quickly in a herd has a confusing affect on the attacker.
