Can chicks eat bananas??

I have 5 week olds, can they eat bananas - I know the bigger ones can, not sure about the little guys

My little ones loved digging into a banana once they were about two weeks old.

Mine wouldn't touch bananas when they were little. They were a bunch of prissy little things that didn't like getting their beaks sticky. Now they love them.

There was a thread floating around here about bananas being bad for chickens. Apparently there was a guy who, after feeding his flock bananas, one of his roosters basically dropped dead. Others said similar things had happened, and that bananas should be avoided.

Something to do with potassium over-something.... You'd really have to see the thread to know what I'm talking about. You should do a search, it was enough to convince me to never feed my flock bananas, but rather other treats.

I give mine a banana about once a week. The banana is generally over ripe and I chunk it up with oatmeal.
I have never given the peel.

My kids love bananas.
