Can DE be composted?

Pool DE is treated with chemicals. Avoid it.

As someone stated DE is basically sand, sort of. It is really crushed fossilized plant matter. The reason it works to repel/kill bugs is it is very sharp and basically razors the insides of whatever tiny creature inhales/swallows it.

Some studies have proven that it does still work when wet. It does not dissolve.

Obviously there are no quick answers with DE. I don't use it, and hopefully never will have to.

We use food grade DE in our coop and in the run in the summer. We compost our shavings, DE and all! Our compost pile is loaded with worms and other creepy crawlers so they obviously aren't bothered by the DE.
