Can duckings eat chick starter/grower?

I'v been feeding chick starter to ducklings for 55 years, and never yet run across a case of niacin deficiency, never heard of it before I started reading these forums the past few years, never seen a known case of it though. Never supplemented for it either, never fed commercial feed formulated for ducks because I never saw it for sale in the feed stores. I would suspect that if you feed ducklings chick starter, they'll do just fine, mine always have.

Everyone has their opinion. I start with chick starter before moving on to flock raiser . we brood indoors and the flock raiser raises the level of smell.

You haven't been reading much because it pretty much happens on a weekly, if not more basis here.

I guess I don't really care if no one has had problems, to the contrary a LOT of people do, my point is ducks and chickens do not have the same nutritional requirements, this is especially true with niacin, I see no point in underdosing my birds with an essential vitamin that they need for leg health and growth.

I can't even begin to list the number of factors that are going to dictate whether they will get it or not, that's why it just best to start with a diet formulated for them in the first place.
