come back too to sleep? Never had ducks before and when the chickens were babies we locked them up in the coop a few days and then let them out for periods of time and they just came back (our property fenced anyways) but not sure how ducklings work!

Also, will my Roo likely accept a baby duck?

How old are the ducks? I have always kept ducklings and chicks together; they free range all day and come back to the barn at night for bedtime (most of the times). Chickens always come back, but on a rare occasion the ducks will hunker down and spend the night out. If you have water on your property that will entice them to stay in that area. So I keep a baby pool @ the barn so the ducks will come back. We have 5 acres of woods with a creek and a swamp, so they need to know that they have access to water at the barn too. I also have trained mine to come when I quack for them. They know they are getting treats when I come out and quack. It's crazy, but it works; the chickens come when I quack too. It's very funny:lol:. However, I also keep my ducks locked up longer than my chickens. I wait till my ducks are almost full grown before they are allowed to free range. Hope this helps!

I have a brooding shed that i move my ducklings into at 1week old. They stay in for a few days before i let them out into the yard during the days but they always come back at night. I also keep their food & water in there too though.
