WOW! To my surprise I found this egg in my chicken coop yesterday. I am sure it's my Muscovy as she was the only missing duck egg from the actual duck nest. Can she climb into this chicken coop? I have alarms set every hour to go investigate. I have had her for 15 months and never seen her climb anything! She even hated climbing up into the pool (10 inches off ground) I have several breeds of chickens but the size and color sure looks duck to me!!! I have 8 juvenile chickens waiting for start laying but this egg doesn't match ANYTHING of what the chickens should be laying! How can you tell the difference between duck and chicken eggs?

Ducks: Muscovy, Pekin, Khaki Campbell, Rouen
Chickens: Isa Brown, Barred Rock, EE, Buff Orpington, Rhode Island Red. (currently only chickens laying are the Isa & EE)

Here are some Pics

3rd -- Comparison to her egg the day before
The picture of the coop will not load. I will have to send a picture at a different time.

One of my muscovy girls was climbing up into the chicken coop today. The coop is about 3 feet off of the ground. What kind of coop set up do you have? Can you post a pic? <--- I just saw you were having issues with the pic loading.
I have also set up a branch for the muscovies and they climb and perch on it.

Definitely could climb that. ;) Here is my drake and one duck climbing up my coop ramp.

Nice...I really thought keeping the rungs of the ladder open She would not have attempted to climb. Surprise! right? Are there any issues about her deciding to lay in the chickens nesting box? Should I change the ladder to a stronger pitch, one that the chickens can hop up into but too steep for Gizmo (Muscovy) to climb?

Here is the pretty lady
