can ducks eat baby chick feed

all my feed store has for baby food is nutrena starter. can ducks eat that.

I hope so. Thats all my feed store has also. Waiting to hear from an experect. T his is my first pair of ducks so learning everything I can.

As far as I am aware, a chick starter crumble works and it is best to add either a sprinkling of brewer's yeast to the food, or 100 mg niacin (plain, not no-flush or time release) per gallon of water the first 10 to 12 weeks, since ducklings need three times the niacin chicks do.

It is fine. Chick starter is chick starter regardless of brand.

But they definitely need extra niacin! Trust me on this one - I'm just (hopefully) overcoming issues because I did not add niacin to food or water. And make sure it's unmedicated feed.

If you are keeping ducks in with your chicks do you have to wory about niacin in the chicks?

You shouldn't need to. It would be easier to add niacin to the water if both are brooded or feed together. Ducks drink more so will ingest a higher amount than chickens. Too much of a good thing can be bad. Even ducks can be given too much niacin.
