My dad is a wheat farmer so there is wheat a plenty. Can ducks have wheat straight from the field? Does it need to be softened? I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks!

They can eat it, but I'm not sure about having to soften it first. I give my ducklings oats when they're 4 weeks old, so if they can handle that, maybe they can handle wheat.
