? Can egg change position from standing to lying down for hatch?

If the eggs have been standing in egg cartons for 18 days, is it ok to lay them on their sides to hatch?

Did you turn them by hand? Did you tilt the bator or the cartons?

I have an auto turner, so I'll be putting them in cartons on day 18-19

I am going to hatch them in an egg carton. All of wellie eggs have detached air sacs so I am afraid that if i lay them on their side the chickies won't be able to find the air sac

When you guys take the eggs out of the autoturner, do you have to leave them in the position they were in so move them to egg cartons?
Or do you lie them down on their sides?
Does it make a difference for the hatch?
Are they positioned for hatch in the standing up position or better to lie down?

The incubator space is small (Brinsea 20) and I'm worried if I do not take them out of the cartons it will be too crowded for hatching.

I have to decide since tomorrow morning is day 18 and I have to place them for hatching
