Can Guinea Fowls be left at a rural setting without people there all the time?

If you can let them freerange - do it. These birds are not like chickens. They are tougher than anything else you can buy and they freerange with nearly absolute success. They don't nest on the ground so that takes care of about 75% of danger. They roost high up in trees and are the most observant and unified flocks you're likely to see.

Who cares if their freerange pond freezes over? How do wild birds live? They don't need water heaters I can tell you that.

I don't know where you got your information from but to say that guineas do not nest on the ground is completely false. Yes they do roost high up in trees making them very vulnerable to owls at night. They spend the majority of their day on the ground foraging and believe it or not, ground dwelling predators do hunt during the day.

When a hen is broody on a nest, she spends 100% of her time on the ground and is very vulnerable to predators.

Wild birds when they can't find food or a source of usable water (snow, etc.) migrate out of the area. While guineas are more wild than domesticated, they are not true wild birds. If they can't find a source for food and water they will die.
