Can I Add A Mama Hen & Her 10 Babies ?

I got a Silkie mommy hen with her 10 babies from the auction the other day & i have been concerned with adding them to my silkie flock. I have two broody hens sitting on eggs in the coop & im afraid there might be fights amongst the hens if i add them. Ive never gone thru this before & i dont want the babies to be hurt. Any suggestions ?

You're going to want to keep them quarantined for at least 4 weeks anyway, this will give the chicks a chance to get some growth on them. Then you can place their cage nearer your others, and let everyone get acquainted through the wire before mixing them in together.

You should quarrantine the family for 30 days to make sure everyone is healthy before adding to your own flock. You wouldn't want to spread an illness.

Okay. Theyre in my spare room right now chirping away. So ill give it another week or two & send them outside. Thanks !
