Can I add a small branch to the brooder?

Several of my one week old chicks are enjoying jumping up on our heating plate. Would adding a small branch from outside into their brooder box be okay? There is plenty of room. I was just worried about them pecking at the branch and eating it or eating something that was on it. Thanks!!

I put a branch in the brooder, I trim the small twigs.

Yup, small branches are fine, just make sure the tree hasn't been sprayed with anything like pesticide recently (unusual, but just in case).
