Can I bathe a new mother hen?

Five little chicks hatched this morning and I'd like to wash the mother hen because she's been pooing all over herself for 3 weeks now. I can't imagine it would be good for the babies to be under all that nasty mess. So is it okay to take her away and give her a bath if I make sure she's good and dry when I put her back with the babies?

most definately! we use baby shampoo or ivory original. nice warm water and a good rinse. I would pull the whole nest area out as well and replace.
