Hello everyone, so I’m a goat newbie, and I’ve noticed they are itchy and have what look like lice bites on their noses and so I called our vet and he said to give them a bath, my only concern is the temperature outside. The ground is still frozen solid and it’s windy. They are due to kid within the next week- three weeks or so. I’m scared I’ll hurt them or the kids if I do it while it’s this cold. He said to use warm water…. Which I’ll probably have to haul it from the house…. What are your thoughts?

I would not give them a bath. It will not take care of lice anyways. Ask your vet for a safe treatment for lice. I would generally recommend a dust or ivomec but since they are due shortly it's best to ask your vet or treat after they kid.

Except for show, I never bathed my goats. I don't recommend it. I did clip them though. If they have lice, get a can of louse powder and give them a good dusting with it, especially down the back.
