Not sure if you can buy them in Louisiana...but I think a few of the really big hatcheries in other states are still offering baby chicks.

Go to the "Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps" thread in the "where am I, where are you forum" and see if anyone has chicks or knows of any for sale. There are members from all over the state and probably somebody near your area.

DMontgomery gave you excellent advice. If you want straight run you could also ask if someone with an incubator would hatch some for you.
