Last night as I was laying down to bed I thought "Dang it- I didn't check the chicks' water before bed". My husband told me they'd be fine and they should be sleeping anyway. They started to peep on cue when they heard this. I stayed in bed for another 10 minutes before I heard this god awful sound....as if I was trying to turn the ignition in my car while it was already running. Screech! Screech! About 3 minutes later it happened again.
I thought for sure that if any of my "girls" were roos, it would be one of my 5 weekers but when I came out to the brooders all the teens were DEEP asleep on their roosts. My little 3 weekers were all running around like wildfire and sure enough, their water was full of shavings. I cleaned it out and spent 10 minutes trying to crow at them to see which one would crow back....lol.
If there is an early blooming (and crowing) roo in my bunch, is there a way to coax him to crow?? There are 10 chicks in that brooder and I have my suspisions of who it might be....but it'd be nice to know!
