All you need to scald a bird for plucking is a big pot of hot water. You don't have to have a turkey fryer (cost, anywhere from $50 to over $100 if you buy new) or any specialized equipment. I've used just a big pot, or a water bath canner, a roaster, a dutch oven, or a galvanized bucket. Fill with hot tap water. (leave space for a bird to be dunked, so you don't burn yourself) Put it on the stove to heat it up a bit more, if it's a thing you can put on the stove. If not, fill with hot tap water, and heat water on the stove with a smaller pan to add to your large container to get the water hot enough.
When the bird is bled out, take the pot of water outside, dunk the bird and swish it around a bit. You can put a smaller pan of water on the stove to heat while you do the first bird. Then pour our a little of the water from the big pot, dump in the boiling water from the smaller pot, to get it back to hot enough, and dunk your second bird. Repeat until all birds are done.
I've even just heated water in my tea kettle and poured it over the bird, one area at a time, reheating a bit more water for the next section while plucking the part I just poured water over.
