vegetables from a can? I wouldnt have thought anything of it but I mentioned it to my dad and he said he thought it'd have too much salt in it. Just wanted to check. Thanks!
ETA: From the store, not home canned

I give mine table scraps. They see me coming with the white bucket and they all get excited. I just don't give them greasy or oily things or anything with alot of butter. Don't want to stop up their crops. I gave them some BBQ ribs a couple of times. They loved it. I scramble eggs with cheese in it and give that to them too, Scraps I cut off of vegetables too. Some things they don't like some they do but I have yet to have at least 1 chicken that wont eat what I give them.

They are goats in disguise.

I make sure they have plenty of grit when I give scraps. Without grit they can't digest it. If you let them free range they will pick up pebbles on their own but mine are mostly in the coop with a covered run.

We also use the bagger on the lawn mower and toss it in the run. They love that. It's a scratch frenzy in the run on those days. The left overs just go back into the ground. When we find worms we toss them in too to watch them fight over them. Thats more for entertainment though.

I give mine table scraps too and that includes canned veggies from time to time. I give them pretty much anything from our kitchen. I avoid raw potatoes of course but if I have a lot of peelings I will fry them up for them. They love it! I think they can handle almost anything in moderation.

Too much salt for anything is not good BUT a little every now and again won't hurt. I am like everyone else, I give table scraps, frozen veggies and so on. The only things I avoid all together is anything with chocolate or cocoa in it, green potato peels, citrus, raw onion, and avocado. What's wrong with avacado you ask? I have no idea but if I pay that much for an avocado I ain't sharing it with anyone including the chickens. I wouldn't purposely go out and feed them salted peanuts, pretzels, or potato chips but a little sodium from a handful of canned green beans isn't going to kill them.
