I have an abundance of Iris growing in my yard. The chickens love flowers and I was wondering if its safe for them to eat some of the Iris?

Iris are poisonous to cats, dogs, and horses, although its toxicity is low and symptoms (excessive salivation, vomiting, diarrhea and weakness) shortlived. The poison is mostly in the roots, so perhaps the flowers are OK, but, I wouldn't try it. I think there is a reason almost nothing (even most bugs) don't eat them.
