Some of my older hens have been lacking in some nutrients specifically calcium. I just bought some oyster shells but now I’m wondering if I shouldn’t give them to the hens since I have a shellfish allergy. Will the egg be tainted? Please help.

I am NOT an expert, but I would assume it's fine. They just use the calcium in their shells. If you're worried, you can give them limestone instead.

As far as I know the calcium is used for shell only. I would assume that if your allergy allows you to handle the shells that it would also allow consuming the eggs.

Perhaps your doctor could answer this definitely.
