Can I feed my chickens Potatoe peals?

Most experts say not to, unless they are cooked. Mine have eaten them with no ill effects. BUT definitely don't give them ones from potatoes that have gone green.
 
Potatoes don't give me gas either. One time I gave my chickens some cooked beans and they loved them and I'm sure it kept them warm. I also heard that uncooked beans are a no no.
 
Potatoes that have been exposed to light during storage sometime develop a greenish skin, due to a substance called solanine. It's not recommended that ANYONE eat the skins in that stage. They are fine to eat once peeled. I decided long ago to not give potatoes to my chickens, it's just starch anyway. I figure, why take the chance, when they compost so well.
