can i feed my coturnix quail turkey starter?

i have been feeding my coturnix quail turkey starter mixed with about 10% lay grain and about 10% millet.

is this mix ok for coturnix quail?

any help would be great.

I think it's okay (?) but once they hit that egg laying age or if you're planning to eat them soon, then having all those meds in the bird means you're eating the meds too.

Meds aside. What you want is a high protein complete ration, in a format that your birds can eat. For pretty much any species of quail, you want crumbles.
For quail...Pelts are evil!

I use purinamills game bird starter 30% protein from start to finish. I grind it up for 2 or 3 days for coturnix chicks, but I don't have to supplement anything.

The turkey starter people should really ask for PM's game bird starter, unless they are raising turkeys.

The hands down best feed for pretty much any quail is purinamills game bird starter 30% protein. You can feed it from start to finish, and no pesky meds. to deal with.

is game bird breeder ok?

i know a guy that used game bird starter for the chicks and game bird breeder for the adults.

but he only gets 30% hatch rates so would that be because game bird breeder only has 20% protein.

That's why I suggest PM's "Game Bird Starter "Startena" 30% protein", not breeder/layer, flight conditioner, finisher, maintenance, or anything else.
Is breeder/layer ok....yes, but it's $1.00 more expensive per 50# bag for me, so paying $1.00 more for 10% less protein breaks my budget.

I know I can't win this argument, because it will end very badly for me, and I will have to analyze turkey starter and cat food at some point.

I think Youri and I are from down under (Australia) so the choices we have available are limited when it comes to gamebird food. I know my local produce store doesn't stock any so I've had to settle for chick starter with added soya meal and catfood kibble to increase the protein content for the chicks and then change it to chicken layer feed+soya meal+catfood kibble for the breeders (I need to fiddle more with the protein because my Japanese quail didn't lay as often as I would've liked them to when on the mix I blended for them - but then again it could also be because I didn't give them artificial lighting in the cold months). I'm not sure we can get Purina Mills here in Australia.

No the only brand of gamebird feed I've come across is from the Barastoc range ie

As far as I know we don't have Purina Mills breeder or starter mix.
