I was given a bag of rabbit pellets. Can I chuck it in their run for them like scratch?

Mine wont eat them either. I have tossed a handful to them when they are begging for a treat by the geerage and they ignore them. My pig eats them up tho. I will toss a handful of bird seed down for a treat they luv it.

My chickens LOVE rabbit food. I will throw a handfull in with them every once in a while, when i'm feeding the rabbit or they will stand under Bunny Boy's pen while he is eating and wait for food to fall. Its really cute to watch! They go crazy when a piece falls and they run everywhere teasing everyone else! haha:lol:

Our rabbit feed is Purina, and made with Alf Alfa.

If the rabbit pellets are mostly alfalfa, it may be that the pellets are too hard or large. I feed my chickens alfalfa pellets from TSC (they also have the same pellets in timothy and clover). But they turn up their beaks at the pellets straight from the bag.
So instead, I soak about a cup of the pellets in hot water in a big tupperware covered bowl until they're mushy and fall apart, and then add the green alfalfa mush to a hot mash made from their laying crumble, scratch, BOSS, and oyster shells. Mic it for a couple minutes and they love having something warm to wake up to!

I actually soften maybe 2 quarts of the alfalfa pellets at a time so it's handier to just scoop a cupful of pre-softened alfalfa ready to go.

Ohhdear, good recipe. Mine ate some rodent pellets the other day. (No, not the pesticide! You know.. the stuff you feed pet rodents.) They liked it. After feeding it, I was worried that maybe it wasn't good for them. I guess it is like rabbit pellet so this is good to know!
