I decided to make my own feeder that was inspired based on something I saw here or on youtube awhile ago. Anyway, it is basically just a 4" PVC pipe with a Wye connector on the bottom. Recently, one or two of my chickens instead of eating the pellets inside seem to just pull them all out onto the ground, basically wasting a ton of food. Is this due to a design flaw or do I just have a chicken with a bad habit? Would it be worth it to get just a standard feeder or will I likely have the same problem? Here are some pictures so you can see what I'm talking about. Thanks for the help.

Add a short pipe to the bottom of the Y-Pipe that should limit the amount that back flows into the open end of the Y-Pipe.

It isn't a problem from the food flowing out. It is one of the chickens pulling all the food out onto the ground.

I understand whats going on.
By limiting the back flow into the open end of the Y-Pipe the chicken will have to stick there head in further to get the food and less likely bill out the food.

Make the hole a little smaller where the food is coming out so that they have to keep their head in there in order to get food. I think it is supposed to be an inch wide at the bottom or smaller. I gave those up though, they are a really good idea but I was having a hard time keeping the food inside from getting wet when it rained. (Yes I moved it but to no avail)
