Can I freeze scratch?

I’ve been feeding my ten chickens 1/2 cup of scratch in the evenings since last fall when it was quite cold at night. I’ve continued this spring, unless it was to be over 50 degrees in the evening, simply because I still have some left over from the bag I purchased.
My husband noticed that recently, the yolks have been breaking every time he cracks an egg. I read that it could be a lack of protein or too much scratch. So I’m going to quit the nightly scratch.
My question is, can I freeze what’s left until the fall? Or should I just toss it? I’d say, based on my feed scoop, there is 6-9 quarts left.

The bugs will just be extra protein! If you are wanting to keep it for years, yeah freeze it to kill the larvae and eggs, otherwise a few weevils aren't going to bother the birds. Same deal if you are storing flour, rice, cornmeal or any boxed cereal or grain product, freeze it to kill any eggs or larvae before storing it long term.
