can i give my 8 day old ducklings peas ??

nope but i can start giving them grit tomorrow (there 8 days old tomorrow)

i was wondering if i could give them peas while there in the bath swimming and give them peas when there in the brooder at 8 days old

I did give peas to my week old ones. Best to start off mushing them and then give whole peas. Give them small amounts, and make sure they do not gulp. Ducklings actually don't need grit in their first week, but I give them sand with day 3 on the side. The nibble a little bit first and then more as they get older. I buy builder's sand at the hardware store. They even sell coarse sand, which usually costs less then the grid at the feed store. Mine haven't gotten grit yet, because they now free range and they dig it up themselves. I will need to add it in winter.

Yes, the short answer is that if we feed something other than crumbles, it is best for them to have something to "chew" with. Someone on the forum had trouble with this, if I recall.

On Storey's recommendation, I began tiny bits of grit on day two - so far, everyone seems healthy.

I've actually been giving my ducklings mashed peas since they were two days old. They were eating non-mashed peas at a week, to no ill effects. I assume it would be the same with all breeds.
