Can I give my chickens purple hull pea pods?

I have a big garden. I know not to feed them raw or dry beans. I have a lot of purple hull peas ( very similar to black eye peas). After I shell the peas is ir ok to give the pods to the chickens?

I have always hated black eyed peas! Though I do enjoy the memories of my grandma that come along when I think about them these days.

If they are anything like regular green peas... I wouldn't have any problem feeding them out as a SNACK.
