I have a very broody Australorp; so die hard broody that she may be in the pot if she doesn't break soon and stay broken. I have heard of setting quail eggs successfully under bantams, but what do you think about a full-sized Black Australorp? If possible, how many coturnix do you think she can handle?

Thanks,

My BA hatched out bantams this spring - at one point she had 18 eggs under her. I'd expect to be able to put plenty more than that of quail eggs. Sorry, guess I wasn't much help, but figured I would let you know what my girl did

A friend who used to use bantams to hatch out quail eggs emphasized that she had to 1) use her lightest weight hens so as not to break the eggs and 2) take the quail chicks away almost immediately, as they got stepped on and it broke legs, etc., by accident.
