Hi all. I actually don't have chickens yet but I've been doing my research!! Does anyone know how I can find out if chickens are allowed in my city? I live in Brighton, MI. I've been trying to find ordinances but nothing mentions chickens. I'm hoping I can have them but I live in town. So my back up plan is to keep them at my parents place in howell :) thanks for any info or suggestions.

You might consider posting this in one of the Michigan threads. Someone on there should know.

I live a few hours drive west of you and have family in Brighton.

We found ordinances for our area by looking up or township regulations.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Hope you are allowed to have chickens!

If it is Genoa Charter Township, go to this website:

http://www.genoa.org/government/ordinances/ordinance-zoning

Then go down to Article 3 (Residential and Agricultural Districts) and download this section.

Once downloaded go to pages 1 and 2 to determine how you are zoned. Then go to pages 7 and 8 where it defines who and where you can have chickens, as well as how many you can have.

Hope that helps.
