Can I hold him?

This is the only one hatched so far and he wont stop peeping in his box. He is quiet when my hand is near him and he tries to crawl into it. Am I going to hurt him at all if I keep him close to me and not under the heat lamp?

I hold mine too but I try not to keep them out long. The babies have a surrogate mommy they like to snuggle (stuffed animal).

I would not think so. I have a barred cochin that wants nothing else then to sleep in my cupped hand. She is perfectly content now 3 week old. I think she thinks I'm her mommy. This baby chick probably thinks you are too.
